Chess at Big Techday and on YouTube
July 15th, 2026
Many of our colleagues are passionate about chess. This year at Big Techday, we welcomed Matthias Blübaum for a simultaneous exhibition against 20 opponents and a talk on “The impact of AI on chess”. The Grandmaster explained how technological progress is affecting the human understanding of chess and provided insights into how professionals specifically use artificial intelligence to improve their game.
You can read a detailed press report (in German) on the talk here.
If you want to watch the full talk (in German), check out the recording on YouTube.
But chess isn’t just a part of Big Techday. One side project some colleagues have been working on is our YouTube channel “TNG AI Chess”. Using an LLM agent, we analyze chess puzzles, demonstrate the correct solution in short videos, and explain it using a state-of-the-art text-to-speech model. Our team uploads new videos almost every day, covering positions from real matches by the best chess players in the world and Lichess users.
