AI Research
AI research is a core component of our expertise. We focus on AI models and robotics, developing and optimizing solutions for complex challenges.
Chimera models
In December 2025, TNG was listed eighth among key players for open-source AI models in Andreessen Horowitz's study “State of AI - An Empirical 100 Trillion Token Study with OpenRouter".
Details on the background and analyses of all Chimera model variants are available in one of our papers on arXiv as well as via our OpenRouter and Hugging Face profiles.
DeepSeek-R1T-Chimera
In April 2025, we published DeepSeek-R1T-Chimera, our first open-weights model, which laid the foundation for further research into AI models. It added R1 reasoning to DeepSeek AI V3-0324. We applied a novel construction method: The Chimera model is a child LLM, using V3's shared experts augmented with a custom merge of R1's routed experts. It is not a fine-tune or distillation, but constructed from neural network parts of both parent Mixture of Experts (MoE) models. The Model Weights are available on Hugging Face.
DeepSeek-TNG R1T2 Chimera
DeepSeek-TNG R1T2 Chimera was released in July 2025. This Chimera model is a Tri-Mind Assembly-of-Experts LLM with three parents, namely DeepSeek's R1-0528, R1 and V3-0324. The Model Weights are available on Hugging Face under the MIT licence. In August 2025, DeepSeek-TNG R1T2 Chimera has ranked in the top-20 of OpenRouter's most popular models.
TNG-R1T-Chimera
In November 2025, we released TNG-R1T-Chimera, an experimental LLM focusing on creative storytelling and character interaction.
