Pi-Day with Parker

Last week, our headquarters in Unterföhring got a geek boost with a workshop from the mathematician and YouTube personality, Matt Parker, along with his math squad.

Matt and his friends are aiming to shatter the world record for calculating π by hand. As a kickoff for the day, they shared fascinating insights from their recent challenge, where coordinating volunteers for days to calculate digits of π was no simple task - it was a logistical and mathematical feat. After the talk, a full day workshop of calculating π with around 30 TNG colleagues aimed at refining the mathematical approach. While software is involved in the preparation, the actual calculation is all hands-on, old-school math magic.
